Via Rail might well have the job that fits you perfectly. We are currently seeking for a Senior Manager, Train Operations.
Your role will be to:
Provide assistance and support to a team of Managers for the day to day train operations ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations in accordance with the various contractual agreements (CN, CP, short lines) as well as various collective agreements, policies, practices and training programs.
Provide assistance in developing and implementing strategies and programs related to run crewing schedules, yard assignments and allocation of operating personnel at home terminals to further enhance crew productivity while reducing operating costs.
Monitor operational results and initiate appropriate cost reduction measures to remain within budgeted costs and efficiency targets.
Represent the Director of Operations on a number of committees both internal and external in developing and ensuring that Corporate and departmental objectives are adhered to.
Participate in the negotiation process with bargaining units and recommend changes to agreements to further enhance productivity, cost effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
| Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 10 years of management experience in the operational aspect in the railway industry.
Good knowledge of transportation planning, operating agreement (TSA), terminal swithing practices.
Experience in analyzing financial data (preferred in Train Operations). Locomotive Engineer qualified an asset. Good knowledge of collective agreement negotiation and interpretation.
